AcctWeb began in 1998 with the specific objective of helping Accountants integrate the Internet into their Practice. Our first services were ISP based and a search engine. Since then we've kept the same focus, probably the only company to do so and one that Accountants appreciate, and have developed many ways to get more from this technology. We now work with over 200 Practices, mainly in Melbourne but increasingly around Australia, and the following is a summary of what we do.
- Firstly, we do the simple things like supply ADSL with 24/7 support to anywhere in Australia. We also register domain names and host them if required.
- Then we do the slightly harder things like advise on Internet problems such as Firewall protection and developed three (3) web site options to give a professional image but, more importantly, to suit a Practice's budget. Plus we developed strategies to make a web site part of an Accountant's communications strategy with clients and to remove the problem of waiting for clients to visit.
- Now we've also done the hard things by actually developing services and tools you benefit from. For example:
- We fixed the problem of web sites just sitting there doing nothing, even becoming an embarrassment;
- We fixed the fact that few Accountants have the time to write articles for their clients;
- We fixed a problem that's been with us since the Internet started - that is, hassles trying to send large attachments such as a MYOB file to and from clients;
- We fixed the problem of needing expertise and specialist software to edit a site by developing editing tools for 'Accountants' known as SoW;
- We improved the efficiency of finding Accountant specific information on the Internet; and
- We fixed the problem of a web site being pretty boring by adding extra interactivity with 8 calculators.
The best part was that when doing all this we found we can allow a Practice to focus far more on 'working' its client base better than and more rewardingly than ever before.
